英格兰足球明星大卫·贝克汉姆（David Beckham）以及美国橄榄球明星雷吉·布什（Reggie Bush）互相尝试了对方的运动项目，这是万人迷小贝加盟美国足球大联盟之后的宣传活动的一部分。

　　谈到两项不同的运动时，布什说："我认为英式足球在欧洲的地位，就和橄榄球在美国的地位一样。看起来英式足球（soccer）真正应该称之为'足球'（football），因为你是用脚来踢球。我们把橄榄球（American football）称为'足球'，但是实际上我们用手传球的机会远多于用脚踢球。"

　　贝克汉姆与和布什下个月都将回到各自的球队，小贝加盟银河队后的首要目标就是帮助球队避免在MLS（美国足球大联盟）垫底。布什所在的圣徒队上赛季距离超级碗比赛只有一场之遥，他们在NFC决赛中负于了芝加哥熊队，圣徒队在赛季间歇期的首个训练营将在下月开幕。

　　布什说他将去观看贝克汉姆在洛杉矶队的首场比赛，不过小贝亮相的时间仍是未知数。银河队将于7月21日迎战切尔西队，这很可能是小贝在银河队的处子秀。

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - England football hero David Beckham and American football star Reggie Bush tried out each other's sport as part of the marketing hype that is already under way regarding Beckham's new US adventure.

Bush， a running back for the New Orleans Saints， and Beckham， whose 250 million-dollar deal with Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy begins next week， met in Madrid to film a sponsor's advertisement campaign.

Don't look for Beckham to be strapping on shoulder pads and a helmet in the National Football League just yet， but the former Real Madrid star is excited about the prospect of learning the gridiron game.

"Without a doubt I'm definitely going to get myself to some games，" Beckham said. "I've never been to an (NFL) game. Every time I've seen the Super Bowl…… everyone - the fans， the players - seems so passionate about it." Beckham donned an NFL Saints uniform， number 23 of course， and ran pass patterns with Bush guarding him， spiking the NFL ball after a touchdown catch. He also punted and attempted long field goals with Bush serving as holder.

"Since I signed with the Galaxy， I'm trying to get myself to say soccer because I've always said football，" Beckham said.

Bush traded his pads for shorts， soccer shoes and shin pads and tried bending balls like Beckham on free kicks in the meeting arranged by shoemaker adidas. He also played goalkeeper as Beckham fired short-range penalty kicks.

"What soccer is to Europe， I think that's what American football is to America，" Bush said.

"It would seem like (soccer) would be the sport you actually call football because you're kicking it with your foot. We call (American football) football， but we actually throw it a lot more than we kick it." Beckham and Bush return to work next month. Beckham joins the Galaxy at mid-season with the team struggling to avoid the MLS basement. Bush's Saints open training camp after falling one game shy of the Super Bowl last season.

Bush said he would attend Beckham's first match in Los Angeles. Just when that will be played is still anyone's guess， although a July 21 match against Chelsea appears the most likely debut for Beckham in a Galaxy uniform.
